What would happen if one day you realize that you can phase through matter? You find yourself able to walk through walls and able to put your hand through solid objects. In Losing Touch, Morgan, an overweight and unemployed middle aged man, finds himself suddenly capable of doing just that. But unlike most stories that focus on the positive side of having a superpower, Larsen decides to take the complete opposite approach. In this book the reader watches as Morgan struggles with his new gift and how his life falls apart because of it. Apparently, superpowers aren't everything they are cracked up to be. This story was unlike anything I had ever read before. From beginning to end the author never failed to surprise me. It was nice to read something so different and refreshing. I have read plenty of stories in which the main character develops some sort of ability but most of the stories glamorize the idea of having super human abilities. This story was more realistic than that, and thus better, in my opinion. I found myself simultaneously loving and hating that main character. I give this book 4.5 stars and recommend it to anyone that enjoys reading Sci Fi. I don't think this book is exactly part of the Horror genre but then again, what could be scarier than finding yourself falling through toilets, roofs, and even people and watching your clothes not fall with you?
