100 Days in Deadland is a story that follows Cash's journey and struggle to survive a zombie apocalypse. Her journey echoes the epic journey of Dante as he traverses the nine circles if hell. Cash, whose real name is Mia, wakes up one day to find herself surrounded by a zombie apocalypse. She meets Clutch, a retired soldier suffering from Ptsd, and he guides her and helps her survive . As the story progresses Cash witnesses the same sins that Dante witnessed on his journey and she encounters a Satan of her own, the malicious Doyle. Throughout her struggles and as she is forced to faces these sins, Cash changes, but her perseverance and faith never die.
This story was a great read. The characters were very well developed and the storyline could not have been better. Not to mention how fresh it was to read a zombie story with a female as the main character. The story is packed with action from beginning to end. Unlike other zombie stories, "100 Days in Deadland," was more than just a story about a main character running around trying to escape the zombie apocalypse. Throughout the story the reader watches as Cash transforms from a naive damsel in distress to a protective , self reliant soldier that never gives up and never loses her faith.
This book is 5 stars all the way. It is unlike any zombie or apocalyptic story I have ever read. The reference to Dante's Inferno makes it all the better, especially as the main character encounters and reacts to the different types of sins and sinners on her journey. "100 Days in Deadland" doesn't just tell a story about zombies, it tells a story about a person's struggle to survival in a world that has fallen apart and how that person grows and changes through it all.
