Desolate is a 3 book apocalyptic series that follows Howard Bell's journey as he fights to survive the end of the world. Howard is an average Joe but everything changes for him when he has a bad day and accidentally kills 5 people. He is condemned to spend the rest of his life in prison and is sent to Desolate Island. Howard and the rest of the convicts discover something hidden on the island and unknowingly release it, only to watch it cause havoc on the world. The trilogy follows Howard as he tries to survive in a world that is quickly falling apart. This trilogy was full of action and suspense, not to mention blood and gore. Some characters, such as the main character, are fully developed but other characters are kind of just thrown in the story. They are there one minute and forgotten the next. Although I liked the story I wish the author would of given a little more. The trilogy is only about 300 pages total and it shows. Many scenes are lacking the detail and attention they deserve;if the author would of made his books a little longer then maybe the story could of been a bit better. I give Desolate a solid 4 stars. Its a fun fast paced read and the story is unique. It isn't your typical end of the world scenario. And like most apocalyptic stories, this one has a little bit of everything: gore, action, suspense, and romance. Attachments:
