The only paranormal experience I've ever really had (and continue to have) is my ghost cat that I've named Ebenezer. I see him out of the corner of my eye all the time, walking around my house, usually running up the stairs or down the hallway. I used to pass him off as a trick of the light or my eyes messing with me until I started seeing him in different places. It started with just seeing him head down the hallway and every once and a while I'd see him going up the stairs, but since both places have railings by them, I just assumed it was my eye seeing the railings and assuming it was something moving (you know, kinda like a flip book in a way). But then I started seeing him in the dining room (no railings) and right at me in the living room.
I guess an honorable mention would be the "man" that lives in the woods around my house. I pretty much see him whenever I go out there, and could describe him rather well (kinda tall, long hair, long coat, galoshes and a wide brimmed hat and yellow eyes), but have pretty much passed him off as a trick of the eye, since he's always standing behind a tree. *shrug* Dunno. Worth mentioning at least. I did see him inside my house once and it creeped me the hell out.

That is funny about the cat. There was also a "cat" at the house here. I saw it several times, but the most notable time I saw it (pure white cat) it ran into the bathroom and I followed it only to find an empty bathroom. This was a different time than when I had a cat. Only pet at the time was a dog.

Last year, I was doing a story on some ghost hunters that happened to be in my town at one of the old jails that was haunted. There was many claims of people 'seeing' things and I was excited that they asked me along. We spent hours in the jail sitting in the dark looking for anything out of the ordinary. There were orbs that were caught on the video and we could hear heavy breathing that couldn't be explained. I just had to wonder how much of it was real and how much of it was that they wanted to find something so much that it got into everyone's head that there was something there. I know some of it was hard to explain but not all of it. Anyway, it was a great experience and I had a great article for the newspaper even though my boss hated it, it went against her beliefs. LOL

Never really put a lot of stock in orbs, especially if you only see them on camera. Way too easily dismissed as dust or bugs or a weird reflection or whatever.

True I had them explain the difference, they said dust looked more see through and the orbs looked more solid. Maybe it was just me, they all looked the same.

This is the best way I've found to describe orbs (stolen from the TAPS website):

Back between '78-'81 my family lived in an old house down in Fairhope, AL. The house was inhabited by the ghost of a woman that was seen by several people throughout the years. My dad and sister seemed to be her favorites as they had a number of encounters each. One really spooky one was when my parents were in bed and my dad opened his eyes and the ghost was staring right at him almost touching noses. He let out a scream that shook the rafters. The only experiences I had were a couple times I heard heavy breathing in the room with me and one time I felt something lay down on the bed next to me but when I looked there was nothing there. I guess we should have known something was amiss when we bought the house for a fraction of its appraised value.
