If I didn't love living in this city so much I'd move again! Now Gustav is heading for us ... could we have had 30 years before another major hurricane instead of 3 years. I'm still hoping he'll take a left and go for Texas (sorry Texans I love you guys but I don't think New Orleans can handle another big one just yet Kas

Hey Kas, be safe! I hate that Gustav might hit NOLA again too, send it on to Texas but not where Rita hit the same year Katrina hit NOLA:( Damn storms!!

Well just got electricity back yesterday but my house is fine this time. Thank the Godess! Now the Parish that got hit the hardest is pretty much screwed and I kneow someone who lives there and they stayed during the hurricane. They're not expected to have their elec back until October 1st. OUCH! Especially since they own a Cici's Pizza there. Hopefully they'll at least have the main drap up and running in Houma and they'll be able to run their shop.

Yeah you and me both. I'm trying to buy a house and this is just postpoing it and irritating me. On the plus side the house we're buying went through Gustav with no problem and it's up high the way the property sits

Great news on the house! I am in the process of building too, away from the coast thank goodness..but the house I am in now is not selling because the insurance rates here on the coast have sky rocketed in the last 2 years. I am keeping my fingers crossed though and hoping this will be my LAST hurricane season. It looks like hurricane Ike is threatening Texas and or Louisiana again. I hope your area is missed I think ya'll have had more than your share.

Yeah, electricity-wise I don't think the south area of Lousiana can handle much more. As it is in one or two of our parishes they're saying they wont' have their elec. fixed until the beginning of October. YIKES! My real estate agent is going into the new house today to make sure nothing happened inside that we couldn't see from the outside. Hopefully all is well and we'll continue with the close

Unfortuantely we're still in that damn cone thing! ARGH! But this one better go west or LA might just turn back to swamp land LOL!
Great news on the car port. I showed my friend Nikki the pics of it and she thought they were wild. She's dying to move here so see what it's like while it's happening. She loves storms just like me. I told her it's exciting as long as you're somewhere safe.

looks like you again, Tam with Ike. hang on
Thanks for the link, Bobby...that is better than the one I have been following. Yes, I think Houston is in the direct path of Ike and I live even closer to the coast. Oh well, will just have to hope it is a Cat 3 or less. Congrats on the new carport!!

I guess ol Gustave blew your old carport down eh Bobby? I hope you insurance is paying for it. My State Farm rates have gone up so much since Katrina, I gasp everytime I get a statement:(
As of tonight we are in the direct path of Ike, but it looks like he is trying to turn more north, ya never know with these whacky storms. I am listening to Tool's 'Wish it Away' and hope Ike will take the hint.
