Ok, Time to get some idea of who is who and what is what with everyone out there (you, yes you...)
Who is your favorite mainstream horror author and who is your favorite small press horror author.
In spite of the pure unadulterated crap that was Mister B. Gone, I would have to say that Clive Barker is my favorite mainstream horror author.
In ths small press I have a harder time narrowing it down to a single author. Jack Ketchum would have to be my answer though.
There are others who are worth noting though. Jeff Strand did a wonderful job with his novel Pressure (although I am yet to read his other works.) Gord Rollo has yet to disappoint me with his pair of novels. Nate Kenyon did a wonderful job with his debut Bloodstone.

Mainstream author: Richard Matheson
Small Press.. Scott F. Falkner
I love to read, but don't seem to have a lot of time for it lately with packing and building a new house, but these two have occupied my limited reading time lately and I have spellbound by both authors.
I am looking forward to reading our very own Ms. Dunlap at some time in the near future:) Abs

My favorite is Bentley Little, I think I'm more biased to him since most of his stories take place in Arizona and happen to be areas that I know about. It makes the books just a little more scary and real for me.
As for small press, I can't say I really have a favorite since I try to read everything I can. So mostly I pick out things that grab me and sound interesting.

Hmmmmmm, there be so many! H. P. Lovecraft by far is my favorite however, I have discovered I like Edward Lee as well.

Whenever I grow despondent over the amount of schlock once again threatening to choke the genre, I remind myself of how many fine writers are also working just now. And then I become inspired.
Who's read Greg Gifune?
