Alright so now that we've all seen The Dark Knight it's time to talk about potential happenings for the next movie.
Sadly, no more Joker, because I wouldn't even touch trying to match what Heath did. You never will. They'll probably just make a passing mention of him still being in Arkham or something like that. I'd like to see and appearance by Ms. Harley Quinn, but with the Joker out of the running, I don't see that happening.
There was an allusion to Catwoman in Dark Knight when Bruce got his brand new armor and he asked Lucious if it would stand up to dogs and Lucious told him it'd be fine against dogs but he wasn't sure about cats. I'm not really sure how I feel about this Catwoman idea. For one there was the atrocious flop of a movie with Halle Berry. Also, I know about a year ago there were whispers of another Catwoman movie (*not* starring Halle Berry - think what Marvel recently did with the Hulk) and if that were the case, DC would be unlikely to let Christopher Nolan use her (because DC says no to everything). Besides, I'm not sure I want anyone but Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman.
The only other rumor I've heard that really had any merit was the next villain will be the Riddler. There was Mr. Reese in the Dark Knight (Mr. Reese = Mysteries) and some have theorized that that could be another alias for Edward Nigma (aka the Riddler). Though, that might not be the case since I've also heard rumors that they could be considering David Tennant as the next Riddler, which I don't doubt he could pull off if written correctly.
So, what do you think? What rumors have you heard? What villain would you like to see show up and hell who would you cast to play them?

Ok...Catwoman...Hope not. An awesome potential is that Harley will be in #3, but as a subplot. Think about it. Her man got smacked down by the big bad bat. Tossed in Arkham. She is gonna want some payback. But she shouldn't even be mentioned before hand. She should just show up, like Scarecrow or Two Face did in DK.
Riddler would be great as long as they do it right. And this franchise is all about doing it right. The first one to mention Jim Carey as being a good idea gets a Flunky smackdown. I read an idea somewhere about Riddler. Casey Affleck. I think he would be an awesome idea. Riddler is an awesome idea because he fits the current Batman Mythos. Real people. Riddler is an egotist who would see the idea of Batman as a challenge. Coming to Gotham to prove he is better. Casey Affleck would be a wonderfully understated Riddler. Forget the flashy green tights with a big question mark. Slick and cool. That would be the riddler. Edward Norton would work great too, but with his recent Hulk affiliation probably wouldn't happen.
Heath gone. True. But... I bet money there is extra footage we haven't seen. They could make a cameo Joker appearance with that. Hell, they can make Elvis go for a car ride with Dolly Parton, they can cobble something together. For that matter, they could create a Joker cameo without really showing him. After all, Arkham isn't likely to let him have his face paints.
Oh yeah, saw the new movie and loved it. Which was an accomplishment for the film. I hated that they were doing the Joker. Since the reference to the Joker at the end of Batman Begins I was praying they would be original rather than retread.

Forget the flashy green tights with a big question mark. Slick and cool. That would be the riddler. If they do decide to go with the Riddler costuming him is gonna be a pain in the ass, because you have to get that recognizable classic look but not make it look stupid. Not that I don't trust them to be able to pull it off, I'm just saying it's gonna be hard. For that matter, they could create a Joker cameo without really showing him. After all, Arkham isn't likely to let him have his face paints. That was another part of the conversation Warkitten and I had. You could recast the Joker and use him as little as possible and have Harley be the one who's actually doing things. It's workable. I just know if I were directing/ writing I wouldn't touch the Joker aside from making it clear he's an Arkham and that's that. I hated that they were doing the Joker. Since the reference to the Joker at the end of Batman Begins I was praying they would be original rather than retread. Dude. You can't have Batman without the Joker. It's like Superman without Lex Luthor (and don't TALK TO ME about Zod... unless Zod is possessing Lex, because then it's just sexy.)

I forgot to bring up the subject of Robin. Christian Bale has said that if they were to bring Robin into the new series he'll quit (my theory is it's a mix of fear he'll become something like the Robin from the old Batman movies along with bitterness that he didn't get to be Robin when he auditioned... frankly, I think he got the better end of that deal in the end). But, that doesn't mean we can't pretend. So, what ways you think they could work around the whole Robin thing? They could definitely go with the Nightwing approach if they wanted to. OR do you even want to see Robin? And just for fun, who would you want to play any of the Robins?

Ok, Christian Bale doesnt want there to be a Robin, BUT... there are many ways to add Robin in... he's TOO deep rooted into the batman lore to leave out. I've discussed this with Flunky AND Warkitten, who seem to be completely against it. My thoughts are if they do bring in Robin, he won't be batman's sidekick, rather than a royal pain in his ass. A second vigilante fighting for good with different values than Bruce Wayne. At least to me that is a definite possibility.
On the subject of the Riddler, I am still on the fence with him. Don't get me wrong, I love the Riddler and his lore. Not to mention he's buckets of crazy. My only concern is batman doesn't only fight people who are insane. That is also why i'm probably so upset that they "Killed" two face, who is not so much insane as he is driven by revenge against "The Bat"
(Did anyone else notice Harvey's severe lack of caring about Batman after Rachel dies?)
OMG! WISHFUL THINKING!
Say Two Face isn't actually dead, he might THEN start to blame batman, and then they bring in Riddler (it's happened before i know... but we'll just forget about that) Two face and Riddler have such good evil chemistry it would be a shame to waste it IMO
I am still having trouble placing David Tennant as the Riddler... but I had the same problem with the Joker being played by Ledger (which turned out FANTASTIC BTW!) So we'll just have to wait and see.

Yes, well Flunky seems to have a thing for David Tennant. She also would list him as first choice for casting of Catwoman I bet.
Robin...Well, if you are going to add a new vigilante into town I don't know. I want to say no way, but that might be a workable thing. Young kid working as vigilante and Batman decides to take him in. That would make sense in this world as opposed to the comic world where Bruce Wayne simply turned Dick Grayson into another weapon for his fight against villainy.
Two Face dead? Not neccessarily. He was down and not moving, but we don't know that he was dead. It was presumed that he was dead.

Oi, I think everyone here's got a "thing" for David Tennant. He's hot. Also, again I say, I don't doubt his ability to pull it off. Though he could probably pull off Catwoman as well....

I've discussed this with Flunky AND Warkitten, who seem to be completely against it. We never said we were against Robin coming back, in fact you know we want him there. So stop that dorkass. We just think there's a way to bring in Robin and make him kickass.

You know I bet he'd be really excited to get the part of Catwoman.... -_- Hmmm.... yes but the way they portrayed Bruce Wayne/Batman in DK made it seem as if he REALLY didn't want ANY sort of help from anyone other than for background stuff like making his suits and fixing the Batmobile and stuff... Unless they somehow manage to make Bruce warm up to a "young kid working as vigilante" i don't see Batman taking in a Robin in the next film... Though it could happen, but I can't really see it...

I really don't think it'll happen. The only way you could possibly do it is skip Robin and go straight to Nightwing, which I don't think they'll do.

basically in the case of robin showing up in the new batman movies this would happen
Robin - Who the hell are you anyway, giving out orders like this?
Batman - What are you DENSE? Are you RETARDED or something? who the hell do you think I am? I'm the GODDAMN BATMAN

Just my quick 2cents, Johnny Depp as The Riddler..Heath made the Joker dark and unforgettable and I think the character should be retired in the movies. I think Depp could do the same for Riddler.. Poison Ivy could be done by Angelina Jolie (if she can find time away from her brood!
