CW executive Bob Singer announced that a spin-off of the long running Supernatural which stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, is in the works. The spin-off will not feature a character fans already know and love, but will introduce a new character and will have more of an urban feel, whatever that means. Although in the works, the show will still need to be picked up, so right now it is just in the developing phase, but stay tuned! Supernatural returns for its 9th season on Tuesday, Oct. 15 on the CW. Read more www.littlebunnycthulhu.com/index.php/2013/07/21/news-supernatural-spin-off-announced-at-comic-con/#more-9426

I'm not sure what "more of an urban feel" means but, I hope that means they're returning more to their roots.

Hmmm. . . Not sure how it could be "they are returning more to their roots" when it is going to be some new characters that we have not met. . . I kinda would have liked to see some character from the show spinoff. It seems weird to say we are going to spin off some character that isn't from the show. It is going to be like Supernatural: Miami starring David Caruso. And then Supernatural :NY with Gary Sinise.

What I mean by that is back in their early seasons they actually like hunted monsters/urban legends and they've drifted from that a bit. As silly as it may be, I really miss having like a monster of the week.

Oh. . . Well yeah. I agree to a degree. It is one complaint I have about Doctor Who as well. I like individual stories. Giant sweeping arcs are a nice change of pace, but having them every season lessens their impact.

Mm there really has to be a balance between the two and some shows have trouble with that (granted some ahows are also not designed that way).
